Mr. Sigurður Ingibergur Björnsson joins Thule Investments with over 20 years of experience in management.  Before joining BVC he worked as a private consultant in M&A and restructuring projects.  Mr. Björnsson joined deCODE genetics Inc (NASDAQ: DCGN), in its early stages, first as a VP of Medical Informatics and later as VP of Corporate Development.  During his tenure at deCODE genetics, he was part of the management team taking the company from first round financing to public listing at NASDAQ.  As VP of Corporate Development he was instrumental in implementing a strategic change of the company from population genomics research to full blown drug development company, culminating in the acquisition of MediChem Lifesciences (NASDAQ: MCLS). 

Before joining deCode genetics, Mr. Björnsson served as CEO of Thor Investments, managing a 40M USD portfolio.  During the same time Mr. Björnsson also served as CFO of Thor’s parent company Hof Holdings, a private company operating retail chains in Iceland with a combined annual turnover of  350M USD.  Prior to that Mr. Björnsson served as a Director of Information Technology at Hof Holdings.

Sigurður I. Björnsson studied Mathematics at the Unversity of Iceland and holds a MBA degree from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.
